Mental Health

School & teachers

This clip shows young people discussing the effects of mental health issues on their education, and the importance of teachers and the school environment in their lives. They describe the effects of disruptions to school life and reflect on ways that the school community may have better supported them during the early days of their mental illness. They discuss the importance of having someone at school to talk with about their mental illness. This clip is one of a series in which young Indigenous and non-Indigenous people talk about their experience of mental health issues and mental illness.

These Speaking from Experience clips feature eight young people who share their experiences of dealing with mental health issues. It was produced in partnership with Orygen Youth Health , SANE Australia and Aboriginal Medical Service of Western Sydney
