Families & Chronic Illness
School & friends
This clip shows a number of young Indigenous people discussing how being a carer has affected their schooling and general life. They talk about such things as levels of support at school, school attendance, attention levels, achievement, privacy or disclosure and social isolation. The young people also mention some of the different ways people have reacted to their role as carers. This clip is part of a series in which young people talk about living in families where a family member has a chronic illness.
These Speaking from Experience clips feature nine young Indigenous people who share their experiences of living with a family member with a chronic illness. It was produced in partnership with the Chronic Illness Alliance and Aboriginal Medical Service of Western Sydney .
