Epilepsy

Symptoms & seizures

This clip shows young people describing what happens when they experience a seizure and how epilepsy affects them. Their different experiences indicate that seizures and their triggers and warnings can vary significantly. Some of the interviewees describe triggers and warnings they experience before the seizures, as well as the actions they take to reduce their risk of harm. Many discuss their experiences of a seizure in public and speak of the fear and embarrassment they feel after having one. This clip is one of a series in which seven young people discuss their experiences of living with epilepsy. The series will help young people to develop a deeper understanding of the condition.

These Speaking from Experience clips feature seven young people talking about the impact that Epilepsy has had on their lives. It was produced in partnership with The Epilepsy Foundation of Victoria..
